They never said that there’s anything wrong with copying for practice. But if all you do is copy celebrity photos and never move past it to make something original that’s where I cringe.

I wouldn’t mind being an old woman living alone… HOWEVER WITHOUT MY OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS WHO THE HELL WILL TAKE CARE OF THE GODDAMN MOTHS, WASPS, SPIDERS AND FLYS THAT SEEM TO FIND THEIR WAY INTO MY HOUSE.

WHY DON’T BUTTERFLIES WANT TO COME IN???
JUST THE FUCKING CREEP SQUAD.
why in the flying fuck would you pay 75k for something that’s basically an avatar with the edges smoothed, and then brag about it? that is not impressive. that is ridiculous. no comprende.
imvu makes me sad, sometimes.
I’ve heard about this soo many times but I still do not know who’s overcharging.
WHY YOU PEOPLE NO INCLUDE NAMES?
This kind of shit on imvu does not surprise me anymore and the more you hear about it the more you get conditioned to not get depressed about it. Quite frankly that place is not going to change no matter how much time and effort us small people put forth to try and make it better. It’s just best to try and enjoy the few good things left of imvu/GASR. Sometimes I wish everyone sane would just leave GASR… That place is beyond saving. Wish the offsite forums would have worked better </3
Sometimes I just don’t get why people steal art.
I wouldn’t find it an enjoyable activity to rip off someone else’s work. You’re not really creating, just tampering or editing. You’re not creating something meaningful or expressing yourself.
Sure the end result is nice, but it’s not yours.
Is it all worth it as long as you can claim the compliments that shouldn’t be directed to you? That you actually haven’t earned.
Do you have no shame knowing you’re not the one behind what you’ve given a title, signed, watermarked, and claimed as your own?
Why do people draw anyways.
Isn’t it something more then just drawing your favorite desu kawaii animu character?
Isn’t it more then just having a pretty picture?
Is it all about the end result? Is it not worth appreciating the journey it took to get ther?
Isn’t it meaningful, not for the rest of the world, but for you to grow?
Nothing can compare to the feeling you get from seeing your growth, even if you haven’t grown as an artist by much.
Why steal?
For the money? Artists get paid poor money as is. Nobody wants to be an artist because they want to be a billionaire.
So why
the attention? I know a lot of people who DO care about their art who seem to treat the growth part as more of an obstacle than a journey, or whatever. if you don’t care about the improvement aspect, I guess it’s easier to steal/copy/trace what have you than to take the time to work out a niche of your own.
I suppose it could be for the attention but personally I don’t know if I could handle getting attention for something I haven’t earned. Plus it’s much more gratifying when you’ve worked hard and someone acknowledges it. Maybe that’s just how am, different from the people willing to steal as long as they are praised and admired. Just makes me slightly sad. Is that the only way for them to get attention and admiration? I guess the places where we post art (imvu, deviantart, etc) aren’t the friendliest place for people who don’t do amazing work and the “lesser” artists do have it rough with people not willing to give them a chance or acknowledge their achievements and growth.
And yes you do have a very good point. Growth can be an obstacle rather than a journey.
